This week at Just Add Ink we're running a sketch challenge, so I hope you'll pop over and join in the fun. As always, our challenges are open to your own artistic interpretation, so the sky is the limit with what you can create - as long as paper is involved!!
So here's how this layout was put together...- Use a 12x12 Kraft cardstock base
- I used a dinner plate & scissors to hand cut some Good Morning Sunshine DSP out in a 11" circle...
- Using a 1 3/8" circle punch I used the other side of the paper (and made good use of the scraps) for the scallops...
- Adhere the big and small circles into place with SNAIL adhesive. You might need to do a bit of a shuffle around when you get to, say, the last 5-6 circles (no one will notice!) a few might need to overlap slightly.
- Cut any scallops overlapping your 12x12 base with papersnips. If you're not planning to put this in an album you can skip this step and let those scallops hang over the edge.
- I absolutely had to share this product - so many people don't know Stampin' Up! sell Signo White Gel Pens - these are AWESOME!! and if you don't have one already GET ONE, they last a lifetime too (well, a year maybe if you use them as much as I do)! This is what I use for all my faux stitching, doodling, you name it...
- Faux stitch a line all the way around your plate circle.
- Shuffle your photo's into place - have a good play to see where you want them. You want to be sure, after all.
- Another "had to share" moment. I was planning to make this LO all greens and yellows - then I grabbed the wrong ribbon - but I liked it!! RED?? REALLY? I don't know... ah, what the hey! This is only available until the end of March, so if you love this Polka Dot Ribbon...
- A little trick: Staple before you paste into place. I have one of those $2 staplers that doesn't get much further than 5cm into a 30cm scrapbook page, so staple before pasting is the solution wherever possible. I used Tombow adhesive to stick into place.
- We're nearly finished! Add embellishments - I used:
- hand cut DSP (more scraps from the first sheet I was using),
- a scallop edge strip of Whisper White cardstock (under main photo)
- a stamped "Frame With a Flourish" journalling spot with a Real Red marker for journalling,
- a few punched out hearts from the "I Heart Hearts" stamp set (Real Red) and matching heart punch,
- some punched butterflies with buttons & hemp. Make them stick out with Stampin' Dimensionals.
- I finished the LO with a stamped title - hand cut Jumbo Outline Alphabet for the "cheeky" and Serif Alphabet for the "monkey" (basic black cardstock + Kraft white ink)
